The Uttarakhand government on Saturday suspended a DIG police and director Home Guards and Civil Defence Department in Uniform procurement scam worth more than two crore in the past two years. The suspension was ordered by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami following a report presented to him by the DG Home Guards.
Dhami has ordered an immediate suspension of Deputy Inspector General and Director Home Guards and Amitabh Srivastava for his alleged involvement in the uniform procurement scam in the Home Guards and Civil Defence Department. The chief minister directed the state Home Department to constitute a joint committee of senior officials to investigate the uniform procurement scam and bring out the truth.

It’s notable that Srivastava’s suspension resulted from his alleged involvement in financial irregularities pertaining to the procurement process of uniforms for Home Guards in the fiscal years 2024-25 and 2025-26. It alleged that Srivastava was found involved in financial bungling worth more than two crore while in the tender process of purchasing uniforms for Home Guards in the state. His name surfaced in the inquiry report sent to the government by the Director General of Home Guards and Civil Defence, Dehradun. The DG report highlighted utter lack of transparency and violations of rules in the bidding process on the part of Srivastava as director Home Guards.
Following recommendation in the report of Director General Home Guards, Dhami suspended Srivastava with immediate effect and ordered a joint probe.
Speaking on the matter, he stated, “Zero Tolerance” policy toward corruption, and irregularities or corrupt practices at any level will not be tolerated. Harshest possible action will be taken against any officer or employee found guilty of corrupt practices and irregularities.”
