The Uttarakhand government has alerted its border district administrations against the activities of anti-social elements and directed real-time monitoring of social media platforms, in view of the ongoing political crisis in neighbouring Nepal.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami issued directives to the officials following a meeting with magistrates of three border districts Champawat, Pithoragarh and Udhamsingh Nagar bordering Nepal.

The Chief Minister convened an emergency meeting via video conference late Tuesday night with the district administrations, police, and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) officials to assess the security situation along the Indo-Nepal border.
Following the meeting, CM Dhami directed the three district magistrates and police officials to remain on high alert and conduct intensive surveillance along the Nepal border.
Dhami asked the officials, particularly police and SSB “to remain watchful on the activities of anti-social and disruptive elements. Ensure constant monitoring of social media to curtail rumors, misleading information and provocative contents immediately.”
Uttarakhand chief minister asked the three district administrations to coordinate and have regular communication with central security agencies and the SSB responsible for manning Indo-Nepal borders in Uttarakhand. Dhami asked district administrations and the police to increase surveillance in the border areas involving local villagers, police personnel and forest officials. He instructed the district administrations and the police to strengthen the intelligence network in the border areas.
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to ensure real-time monitoring of social media platforms to curb the spread of rumors, misinformation, and provocative content. Coordination with central security agencies and the SSB was stressed to maintain seamless communication and effective security operations.
“All entry points near Nepal borders and cross-border movements must be under constant surveillance . Security guidelines shared by the Centre must be followed strictly and increase deployment of additional forces from the state according to the needs,” Dhami said.
