Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami wants all construction projects completed before October as state elections are scheduled for early 2027. On Monday, he directed the officials to complete all unfinished projects by October 15.
Speaking at a high-level meeting of senior officials at the state secretariat, the chief minister asked them to accelerate ongoing construction projects and monitor them constantly. The Chief Minister ordered the officials to hold monthly review meetings of these projects in his presence and every 10 days under the leadership of the Chief Secretary.

“Projects wherein half the work has been completed must be finished by October 15, 2026. “Accountability will be fixed for delays in timely project completion; strict action will be taken against the guilty as per the norms,” he said.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the state government’s priority is to complete all development projects within the stipulated timeframe. “Departments concerned must ensure prompt, coordinated action to resolve delays due to land transfer, lack of forest clearance, land acquisition, payment of compensation and other reasons,” he said.
Dhami instructed the officials to utilise the “Pragati Portal” as an effective monitoring mechanism for constant project review and to ensure their time-bound completion. “Unwanted project delays not only hamper developmental work but also adversely impact people’s interest and economic activities.”
Chief Minister Dhami took stock of the progress of several projects in the meeting including construction of Ramnagar ISBT, Ranikhet Bus Terminal, Tarikhet Depot and Workshop, Banbasa and Rudraprayag power substation projects. Dhami also reviewed Char Dham road projects, construction of the Askot-Lipulekh track, Mana Pass Road, and National Highway projects in Haridwar and Kashipur areas.
He directed the respective departments to set definite timelines for the speedy resolution of pending matters related to transfer of forest land, forest and environmental clearances, land acquisition, and distribution of compensation to the people.
Dhami’s instructions to officials for the timely completion of ongoing projects are being viewed against the backdrop of the election year in Uttarakhand. State is scheduled to have assembly polls early 2026. Dates for the state election are likely to be announced in October.
