Uttarakhand cabinet rejig after ‘Pitra Paksha’ or Navratras

A rejig in Uttarakhand Cabinet will be effected after upcoming ‘Pitra Paksha’ or Narvratras as top BJP leadership has given a free hand to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to induct new faces or remove from his existing ones. However new names to be included in the cabinet have not yet been finalised by the Delhi.

Officials at the chief minister’s office and BJP’s state office bearers have confirmed that cabinet rejig in can happen any time after ‘Pitra Paksha’ is over. According to senior BJP office bearers, the party’s central leadership, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given a go-ahead to the induction of more ministers in the cabinet.

“Chief Minister has been given the much-awaited free hand to usher in changes in the cabinet as per his choice. Reshuffle will not only include induction of new ministers but also removal of couple of faces from the cabinet. However new names to be brought in the cabinet have not been finalised as yet. In all probability, the cabinet reshuffle will take place after ‘Pitra Paksh’ is over and before Dipawali,” said a senior BJP state unit office bearer on the condition of anonymity.

The BJP leader’s statement was also corroborated by Dhami but the latter stopped at mere sharing that deliberation as cabinet change was being discussed at highest level in the central organisation. “These decisions are taken only after complete deliberations by top leadership of the party. It’s being deliberated by the BJP high command and top leadership. Things will happen in coming days after decision is taken,” said chief minister said.
