Six motorcycle borne criminals shot at a home guard and a police constable when they tried to stop them for checking at Chausana Chowki of Jhinjhana police station of Shamli district on Tuesday night. They escaped along with the weapons looted from the two cops.

The home guard, Sanjay, is critically injured and has been referred to Meerut while constable Sansar Singh escaped unhurt.

According to Dinesh Kumar, SP Shamli, the assailants have been identified and four teams have been formed to nab them.

Kumar asserted that they would be apprehended soon and the looted weapons would also be recovered.
