To instill patriotism among children and youth, the Uttar Pradesh government has, over the past eight years, commemorated the legacies of freedom fighters and national heroes through various initiatives.

In this spirit, the Kakori Train Action Centenary Festival was launched in August 2024, with the Culture Department leading a year-long series of events across institutions and departments under the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The event will honor families of freedom fighters and feature patriotic activities, such as tying Tiranga Rakhis to soldiers, paramilitary personnel, and police. The entire program, including special Kakori-themed segments, will be broadcast live across all districts.

The closing ceremony will feature grand celebrations throughout Uttar Pradesh. The Culture Department has made extensive preparations to ensure widespread public participation. In every district, events will take place at martyr memorials in the presence of public representatives, with the national anthem being played.

Activities will include Prabhat Pheris, motorcycle rallies, Tiranga Melas, and competitions in speech, essay writing, calligraphy, and debates. Archival exhibitions on the freedom movement and plantation drives under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative will also be organized.

The centenary festival was inaugurated simultaneously in Kakori and Shahjahanpur on August 9, 2024. Throughout the year, various initiatives kept the legacy of the Kakori revolution alive.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled a commemorative postage stamp during the main event. A Shaheed Smriti Vatika was developed to honor the martyrs. Children were engaged through school competitions and educational activities highlighting the lives of great freedom fighters.

The Lalit Kala Academy organized storytelling sessions, dramas based on the Kakori incident, book exhibitions, seminars, and creative competitions, including painting, murals, and clay modeling.

Archival exhibitions and cultural programs were held on the birthdays and martyrdom days of revolutionaries, and family members of freedom fighters were felicitated across the state.
