Hundreds of Upendra Kushwaha’s supporters on Sunday gathered here at the Sinha Library Hall to discuss the present crisis in the Janata Dal United The chairman of the JD-U Parliamentary Committee Upendra Kushwaha has convened a two-day meeting of party workers here.
Meanwhile, JD-U national president Lallan Singh termed this meeting as “illegal”. The state party president is only authorised to convene a meeting.
Talking to media persons at Lakhisarai, Singh said: “We are not aware of this intention. I don’t know whether his negotiations with the BJP have been materialised or not. It seems that nothing has happened. That is why he is convening a meeting of his supporters.”
Lallan Singh said that the party has been further strengthened in Bihar with the membership of more than 75 lakh. During the membership drive Kushwaha was in Delhi. He has not made any single person as a member of the party so far, Singh alleged.
Kushwaha is evading direct criticism of CM Nitish Kumar rather he said that this meeting has been convened to strengthen the party. His supporters have been found blaming CM’s kitchen Cabinet members. These CM’s coterie have no contributions in strengthening the party. They are party hoppers, Kushwaha supporters gathered here said.
Except for one JDU MLC Rameshwar Mahto, none of the party leaders, legislators and ministers were found in the meeting convened by Kushwaha.
Agitated Kushwaha supporters said: “CM Nitish Kumar has already surrendered himself by announcing his successor CM – Tejashwi Prasad Yadav ” and added that we are not going to accept Tejashwi as the CM at any cost,” said party workers.
“Why CM not choose anyone from the JD-U? It means that there is nobody capable of becoming CM in the party,” they said. Supporters are demanding to make Kushwaha the CM from the JD-U.
LJP is in support of Kushwaha. Now there are other claimants for the post of CM in Bihar. Recently the former Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi projected his son who is a Minister as the CM candidate. On the other hand, supporters of Chirag Paswan want him to be the CM of Bihar.
