The Uttar Pradesh government has made fool proof arrangements to conduct biggest ever recruitment exams for appointment of over 60,000 police constables in the state.

Over 48 lakh applicants will appear in the written exams today and tomorrow at 2385 centres across the state. The examination will be held in two shifts on Saturday- Sunday.

Meanwhile, state police has arrested 17 people , who were conspiring to leak the question papers of the exam.

The arrests were made in Jhansi, Ghazipur, Varanasi, Ballia and Mau.

These touts were reportedly demanding Rs 30 lakh from each aspirants to help them to pass the exams.

Officials here on Saturday said the first shift of the exams have commenced in a smooth manner at all the centres.

The first shift commenced at 1000 and will end at 1200 while the second shift will be from 3 PM to 5 PM.

A total of 48,17,441 candidates have applied for the exam including 15,48,969 female candidates. Over 12 lakh aspirants will appear in the exams in the four shifts.

Among the candidates, over 6 lakh candidates are from other states ,including 2,67,305 from Bihar. 74,769 from Haryana, 17,112 from Jharkhand,98,400 from Madhya Pradesh, 42,259 from Delhi, 97,277 from Rajasthan,14,627 from Uttarakhand, 5,512 from West Bengal, 3,151 from Maharashtra and 3,404 from Punjab.

In Lucknow, the state capital around 274944 aspirants will appear in the exams at 113 centers.

Police said elaborate security has been made for the exams and to prevent any leakage of the question papers.

Surveillance through CCTV cameras will be conducted in examination halls and centres. Jammers will be installed at all centres to deactivate electronic devices such as mobile phones and Bluetooth.
