Agarwal further said that by scanning the QR code printed on the excise adhesive label affixed to any liquor bottle/aseptic brick pack/can, etc., sold at any liquor shop, all necessary information related to the liquor bottle can be viewed through the app. This can be verified with the details printed on the bottle label and the details of the respective retail shop.

Upon scanning the QR code, he said, the brand name and strength of the liquor filled will be displayed on the mobile screen. This will include beer, wine, LAB, whiskey, vodka, rum, gin, country liquor, and UPML.

He stated that the app can view packaging types (glass bottles/pet bottles/aseptic brick packs (tetra packs)/cans). Furthermore, details such as the type of liquor supplied, MRP, name of the relevant retail shop, and shop ID will be displayed on the app. The name of the relevant wholesale license and the date of stock-in at the retail shop will also be available.

The excise minister urged citizens to verify the purchase of liquor/beer via the “UP Excise Citizen App” when purchasing it. If any discrepancy arises, they should immediately report it to the relevant District Excise Officer or the Excise Department’s toll-free helpline number 14405. Additionally, complaints can also be filed through the IGRS using the “Grievance” menu available in the app.
