Twist in Nikki Bhati murder case as sister-in-law accuses her family of dowry harassment

In a sensational twist to the Greater Noida’s Nikki Bhati murder case, her sister-in-law has now accused her family of assault and harassment over dowry.

Meenakshi, wife of Nikki’s brother Rohit Payla, has accused her husband and in-laws of assaulting her and demanding dowry.

According to a media report, Meenakshi claimed that her family gave her in-laws a substantial amount, including a car and gold, at the time of her marriage, but they demanded a Scorpio SUV.

She also alleged that Nikki and her sister Kanchan used to beat her. She also made similar charges against her husband, claiming Rohit once fired at her brother.

Meenakshi, as per the report, also claimed she was forced to undergo abortions twice. She also defended Nikki’s husband and in-laws, saying they are a well-off family.

Her allegations came days after Nikki was allegedly set on fire by her husband, Vipin Bhati and her mother-in-law.

While Vipin claimed innocence, Nikki’s elder sister, Kanchan, who is also married to the same family, alleged that her sister was killed over dowry.

Nikki and Vipin’s minor son also told reporters that his father poured something on her mother, slapped her and set her on fire using a lighter.

Vipin, his mother and two other family members are currently in police custody and an investigation is underway.
