Mala Roy, Two-time TMC Lok Sabha MP from Kolkata (Dakshin) and Kolkata Municipal Corporation chairperson, and her son Nirban Roy on Wednesday, May 20, surrendered before a lower court in Kolkata in connection with the case, wherein they are accused of threatening BJP workers with firearms after the results of recently concluded 2026 Assembly elections in West Bengal.
After surrendering, both of them applied for bail, which was later granted to them by the lower court against personal bonds of ₹1,000 each.

According to IANS, Mala Roy and her son were accused of creating tension in the Tollygunge area in South Kolkata on May 4 evening, soon after the results were announced for the Assembly polls.
At that time, it was claimed that the two of them, along with their supporters, tried to threaten the BJP workers at gunpoint.
Later on, the Kolkata Police issued a notice to them under the Arms Act, 1959. Mala Roy and Nirban Roy, along with their supporters, surrendered in the court on Wednesday and were immediately granted bail.
