“Just as Chennai is being referred to as the “medical capital”, Vellore should become the capital of research studies,” said Stalin.

The CM highlighted the contribution of educational institutions like the VIT in making Vellore the capital of research studies. He stressed the need for partnerships of private educational institutions in providing education to all.

He pointed out that the contribution of such institutions was needed to ensure that even school dropouts get an opportunity to continue their studies.

VIT Chancellor Dr. Viswanathan, in his address, urged the people of the state to work with the state government to ensure that Tamil Nadu attained the number one position in India.

The newly-Inaugurated 18-storey Muthamizh Arignar Kalaignar Dr. M. Karunanidhi Hostel Block can accommodate over 1,300 students. The hostel block has all amenities.

The seven-floor Pearl Research Park houses over 60 labs, and has more than 50 classrooms. It is said to be aligned with VIT idea of providing greater importance to research.
