Terrorists on Sunday attacked the camp of Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) at Ahagom in Shopian district of South Kashmir.

Army spokesman, Colonel Rajesh Kalia, said that the terrorists indulged in an ineffective standoff at 6.45 pm. No injury to troops was reported.

Terrorists escaped when the troops retaliated. The area has been cordoned off and search operations launched.

The 44 RR is known for having eliminated several top commanders of various terrorist outfits in South Kashmir which is the epicentre of terrorism. Hizbul Mujahedeen commander Sameer Tiger was killed by the unit in an encounter a few months ago.
