Tensions flared in Lucknow’s Kakori area after an offensive post against Prophet Muhammad surfaced on social media, sparking anger within the Muslim community.
A group of agitated residents reached Kakori police station late Wednesday night to lodge a formal complaint, demanding swift action.
According to Aamir Wali Khan, a resident of Mirzaganj in Malihabad, the incident occurred around 9:15 PM on Wednesday when he was browsing Instagram. He came across a screenshot of a post allegedly shared by a user named Prince Gautam, containing highly derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad.

Aamir stated that the post deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the Muslim community and accused the user of attempting to disrupt the communal harmony of the city.
“The Muslim community will not tolerate any offensive remarks against our Prophet. This act appears to be a deliberate attempt to provoke and create unrest,” he said.
The accused is reportedly a student of a private school. Once the matter came to light, the school administration immediately expelled the student, clarifying that the institution has no connection with the student’s online activities.
In a statement, the school said, “The student’s actions are entirely personal and do not reflect the values of the school. We do not support or endorse such behaviour in any form.”
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Authorities have urged the public to maintain peace and allow the legal process to take its course.
Further updates are awaited as the investigation continues.
