RJD MLA from Raghopur, Tejashwi Yadav, was elected the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly on Monday.
The decision was taken following a meeting of the RJD leaders at Yadav’s residence in Patna.

His father and RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad, and his mother, Rabri Devi, were also present during the meeting. Tejashwi’s sister Misa Bharti was also present during the meeting.
Tejashwi was the chief ministerial face of the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan in the recently concluded Bihar Assembly Elections.
However, under his leadership, the Mahagathbandhan performed poorly in the assembly elections. The Opposition alliance was completely routed and reduced to just 35 seats.
The RJD itself could manage to win only 25 of the 143 seats it contested.
The BJP-led NDA swept the Bihar elections, winning 202 of the 243 seats. The BJP emerged as the single largest party with 89 seats, followed by Nitish Kumar’s JD-U, which won 85 seats.
The development also comes amid the ongoing tussle within the family of Lalu Prasad. One of his daughters, Rohini Acharya, has accused Tejashwi Yadav and his two associates, Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, of humiliating her.
In an emotional outburst after RJD’s poll drubbing in Bihar, Rohini alleged that she was abused, attacked with slippers, and thrown out of her maternal home for questioning Tejashwi’s longtime aides, Sanjay Yadav and Rameez.
Yadav, an RJD MLA and a key political advisor of Tejashwi, has not reacted to the allegations. Tejashwi and his other associate, Rameez, have also not commented on Rohini’s claims.
