Tamil Nadu Assembly Election Results 2026: In a dramatic twist in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026, actor-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Monday looked set for a blockbuster debut as the party surged ahead in 84 seats, according to early trends. The AIADMK-BJP alliance was ahead in 59 seats, and the MK Stalin-led DMK and allies slipped to third position with leads in just 54 seats.

In the 234-member Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, the majority mark is 118. With all three parties leading in over 50 seats, early trends indicated a hung assembly in Tamil Nadu.

According to the official Election Commission of India results, the AIADMK+ and the TVK were in a neck-and-neck contest with leads in 16 and 15 seats, respectively. The DMK and Congress were ahead in 10 seats.

The trends are suprising as most exit polls had predicted that the DMK-Congress alliance may retain power in the south Indian state, influenced by the Dravidian model of politics for the last five decades.

The AIADMK, which lost its ground significantly following the demise of former Chief Minister Jayalalitha, contested the polls in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
