In her meeting with Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, Swaraj exchanged views on issues of bilateral importance.

“Good exchange of views on issues of bilateral importance in EAM @SushmaSwaraj meeting with Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dr AK Abdul Momen on the sidelines of #OIC Foreign Ministers Meeting in #AbuDhabi. #NeighbourhoodFirst,” the MEA spokesperson tweeted.

She also met Bahraini Foreign Minister Khalid al Khalifa and Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel Aljubeir.

Raveesh Kumar said that the Saudi Minister welcomed India at the OIC as the Guest of Honour.

Swaraj also discussed follow up to the 1st India-Central Asia Dialogue in Samarkand  during her brief meeting with Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov.

“Foreign Minister of #Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met EAM @SushmaSwaraj on the sidelines of #OIC. Discussed follow up to the 1st India-Central Asia Dialogue in Samarkand as well as took stock of progress in bilateral relationship,” tweeted Kumar.

TS Trimurti, Secretary ER in Abu Dhabi, had earlier today said that Swaraj has a series of bilateral meetings with her counterparts including Bangladesh, Uzbekistan and Maldives.

Trimurti said that the EAM will also call on Foreign Minister of UAE, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

When asked if any member country of the OIC offered to mediate between India and Pakistan, Trimurti said that no such offer has been made.

Tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours rose following the 14 February Pulwama terror attack.

Addressing the plenary session today, Swaraj raised the issue of terrorism and, without naming Pakistan, called on the influential group to ask countries that harbour terrorist organisations to dismantle the terror infrastructure in their countries.

“If we want to save humanity then we must tell the states who provide shelter and funding to terrorists to dismantle the infrastructure of the terror camps and stop providing shelter and funding to terror organisations in their countries,” said Swaraj, who is the guest of honour at the OIC meet in Abu Dhabi.

Pakistan, an OIC member, had tried to get the group withdraw the invite extended to India but failed. Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi then said he will not attend the meeting.

Swaraj is the first Indian leader to have addressed the exclusive group of mostly Muslim-majority countries.
