With the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections just 10 months away, Chief Minister M K Stalin on Tuesday asserted that the saffron project of any Delhi team would never succeed when the Tamils stand united under one banner.

Hailing the DMK-led secular alliance, comprising the Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Left Parties and Muslim parties, he said, “Marxist and Ambedkarite parties in Tamil Nadu are coming under a single banner. When Tamil Nadu is one, the saffron project of any Delhi team won’t succeed. The allies are a pillar of support for the Dravidian Model Government.”

Without naming the AIADMK-BJP alliance, he was referring to it as the Delhi team. The memorial was built in commemoration of the centenary of Elayaperumal at a cost of Rs 6.39 crore.

The journey for social justice is a long one, he said and paid encomiums on Elayaperumal for his selfless political career.

“From revolting against separate drinking water pots for Dalits and non-Dalits, he had protested against discrimination even in the Army, where he had served. He is a great revolutionary. The imprint of the Elayaperumal Committee Report can be seen in the framing of the Prevention of SC/ST Atrocities Act and the Tamil Nadu statute mandating Temple Priests from all castes. Everything will change and a just and equal society will get established,” he wrote in an ‘X’ post, recalling the contributions of the late leader.

Earlier in the day, he launched the state-wide mass outreach programme ‘Ungaludan Stalin’ (Stalin with You), taking government services to the doorstep of the people through 10,000 camps to be held till November end, at a marriage hall in the temple town. He also unveiled a statue of Dr BR Ambedkar, the father of Indian Constitution. Dalit leader and VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan, who is the local MP, and Stalin’s ministerial colleagues, were present at all these events.
