SIR to linguistic hegemony: Stalin blames BJP’s arrogance and saffron WhatsApp propaganda

Launching a scathing attack on the Union Government for its arrogance in carrying out Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and linguistic hegemony by imposing Hindi-Sanskrit, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin on Saturday unleashed a barrage of questions, raising issues concerning federalism and political bias towards opposition-ruled states.

This comes a day after Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu blasting the Modi government in the Assembly for discriminating the State financial allocation from the Central pool and in developmental as well as infrastructural projects with great details, comparing with Uttar Pradesh.

“Not only the Honourable Finance Minister @TThennarasu, but the hearts of the people of the nation are also filled with numerous questions. I ask a few of them: How do corrupt individuals get whitewashed in the @WashingMachine after joining the BJP’s alliance? What kind of arrogance is it to name the nation’s important projects and laws only in Hindi and Sanskrit?” he posed on his ‘X’ handle.

On Governors working against the elected State Governments, he asked “What do you achieve by creating chaos in states ruled by opposition parties?” Questioning the rationale behind the SIR, he posed another query “Why does SIR support vote theft for the BJP’s election victory?”

Painting the Modi government and the saffron brigade as anti-Tamil, Stalin reiterated the charge that there was reluctance to accept the primacy of Tamil in the sub-continent’s history by not acknowledging the antiquity of iron in Tamil Nadu than elsewhere in the world. He also blamed the attempts at suppressing the Keezhadi excavation which has placed Tamil as the only Indian language that first had a script.

“Why is there a reluctance to even acknowledge the scientifically proven report from Tamil Nadu regarding the antiquity of iron? Why resort to somersaults to suppress the Keezhadi report?” he asked adding “Will there be answers to all these? Or as usual will you start false propaganda through WhatsApp University?”
