'SIR being used as weapon to delete Congress voters': Rahul Gandhi targets BJP, calls EC 'the main accomplice'
The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi today levelled allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of selectively deleting voters from specific communities and Congress-supporting booths in Gujarat under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
For his claims of large-scale vote theft during SIR, Rahul Gandhi referred to the Election Commission (EC) as the main accomplice in the conspiracy. “And the most serious truth is that the Election Commission is no longer the guardian of democracy but has become the main accomplice in this vote theft conspiracy,” Gandhi said.

The Congress leader wrote on the social media platform: What is being done in Gujarat in the name of SIR is not any kind of administrative process – it is a premeditated and a strategic vote theft.

He asserted that thousands upon thousands of objections have been filed under the same name and flagged it as the most shocking and dangerous thing.

Gandhi alleged that the saffron party is using the same tactic in Gujarat and Rajasthan that it implemented earlier in Karnataka and Maharashtra. He said, “Wherever the BJP faces defeat, voters themselves are made to disappear from the system. This is the same pattern that was seen in Aaland. This is what happened in Rajura. And now the same blueprint is being implemented in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and every state where SIR has been imposed.”
Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of using the SIR drive as a weapon to exploit the constitutional right of “one person, one vote.”
Initially, a post was shared by the Gujarat Congress on X, alleging irregularities in the objection process during the SIR drive and accusing the BJP of adopting a next-level model of election theft.
“In Gujarat, the #TINA of SIR and the Election Commission. After the revelation of vote theft by the Leader of the Opposition, Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji, the BJP has adopted a Next Level model of election theft,” the party said in its post.
