Sikh Community protests in Lucknow over derogatory remarks against CM Yogi

Representatives of the Sikh community from 45 districts across Uttar Pradesh gathered in Lucknow on Wednesday to protest against derogatory remarks made by a Maharashtra cleric against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Representatives of the Sikh community from 45 districts across Uttar Pradesh gathered in Lucknow on Wednesday to protest against derogatory remarks made by a Maharashtra cleric against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Former Lucknow Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia was also present at the protest, which took place at Parivartan Chowk. The Sikh community submitted a memorandum to the district administration demanding action against the cleric.

Sardar Parvinder Singh, Advocate, General Secretary of the Guru Gobind Singh Seva Samiti, Uttar Pradesh, said, “The Sikh community respects all religions and is always dedicated to the nation. The derogatory words used by the Maharashtra cleric against the Chief Minister are highly condemnable and intolerable.”

He said, ” The Sikh community of Uttar Pradesh, gathered here today, wants to convey the message that the Chief Minister, who holds profound reverence for the Sikh Gurus and is of a saintly nature, will not tolerate any immoral act against such a karma yogi and will stand as a shield.”

Bahraich Gurdwara Management Committee President Mandeep Singh Walia described the Chief Minister as a “protector of Sanatan Dharma” and pledged to always stand by him.

Prominent leaders from across the state spoke in support of the Chief Minister’s contributions to the Sikh community.
