Amid the deepening leadership tussle in the Congress-led Karnataka government, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday said he has invited his deputy, DK Shivakumar, for breakfast to discuss the issue.

The Karnataka CM said that senior Congress leaders had called both him and Shivakumar and instructed them to meet.

“The party seniors have called both me and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and instructed us to meet. So I have invited him for breakfast, and we will discuss the matter there,” Siddaramaiah said on X.

Asserting that his stance remains unchanged, Siddaramaiah said he will do whatever the party high command instructs. He further claimed that Shivakumar has also agreed to abide by the high command’s decision.

Earlier in the day, the two leaders shared the dais at a government event in Bengaluru. Images shared by the Congress party on X show both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar standing side by side on stage.

Together, they also paid tributes to former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi.

These developments are being viewed as signs of reconciliation in an otherwise intensifying power tussle in the southern state and come a day after the two leaders exchanged veiled remarks.

Shivakumar, meanwhile, sought to project a united front, saying the Congress is his “community” and denying that he is seeking the chief minister’s post.

“I don’t want anything. I am not hurrying anything. My party will make the decision. I don’t want any community angle. Congress is my community, and my love is for all sections of society,” he said.
