Aftab Amin Poonawala, accused of brutally killing his live-in partner Shraddha Walker in Mehrauli area of South Delhi, is said to be addicted to smoking marijuana.

According to a police source, the accused has disclosed about being addicted to the use of marijuana during an interrogation and was often interrupted by Shraddha for his excessive use of the drugs.

according to asource, Aftab had fought with Shraddha an entire day over the expenses of the house and who would bring their goods from Mumbai to Delhi.

During the fight Aftab went out of the house, smoked marijuana cigarettes and returned sometime later.

In his disclosure, Aftab has said that he was not willing to kill Shraddha or had no such plan. They were having a fight and Shraddha was shouting at him continuously.

Being in an intoxicated condition, he suddenly got very angry and, in an attempt to choke Shraddha’s mouth, he strangled her so hard that she eventually died.

After killing Shraddha, the accused stayed near the body throughout the night smoking marijuana cigarettes.

Meanwhile on Friday, the Delhi Police visited the previous office of the accused in Gurugram and conducted a search operation in the nearby forest areas.

According to a source in the Saket Court, the Delhi Police has been directed to conduct the narco-test within next five days. The accused has already given his consent to undergo the narco-test.

The court has asked the police to avoid the use of third degree on the accused during this period of time.

A police source said that in order to ascertain the presence of Shraddha and Aftab before and after the murder, the investigating team has sought their location from the telecom operators before and May 18th.

The Delhi Police is said to have written to Google to know the search history of Aftab on his internet. Police are also trying to retrieve the past chats of Aftab, Shraddha and their friends. Police have written to different messaging apps and sought details of their chats.

The gravity of the case can be understood by the fact that the police teams of four states are involved in investigating the matter – Delhi Police, Maharashtra Police, Uttarakhand Police and Himachal Pradesh Police.

According to a source, it is being claimed that the accused had travelled to Uttarakhand after the crime and could have disposed of some of the body parts in the forest of Dehradun.

It was revealed that both of them visited many places in the month of May itself including several places in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

It has come to fore that on May 4, a few days before the murder Shraddha had gone to Vashishtha cave, situated along the banks of river Ganga near Shivpuri in Uttarakhand with Aftab.

Shraddha even made her reel from there for her social media. On May 11, Shraddha posted a photo of herself, from a cafe, which is said to be located in Himachal Pradesh. The police are now visiting and recording statements of people at these places.
