Reacting to the BJP’s first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, the Opposition INDIA bloc has said that the manner in which the ruling party has distributed tickets shows its hopelessness.

Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav said that the BJP has accepted defeat in the first list itself.

“In the first list itself, BJP has accepted its defeat because due to fear of rebellion, it is re-nominating those people who are not getting any work done in their respective parliamentary constituencies or because of their involvement in corruption. There were no expectations for tickets. Those who wanted to pack their bags and leave are being asked to fight again under pressure. How will these leaders face the Opposition?” Yadav asked.

He claimed that there is deep disappointment among BJP workers since they are aware of the anti-incumbency

“There is deep disappointment among BJP workers also with the arrival of this list because they are aware of the wind blowing against most of their MPs among the public. The youth who were supporting BJP in every wrongdoing in the hope of getting BJP ticket will also get disappointed and become inactive. BJP’s candidate list is a declaration of its hopelessness,” Akhilesh Yadav wrote in Hindi.

The principal Opposition Congress said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sensed trouble brewing within the saffron party, therefore, the tickets have been given to some MPs even after internal surveys predicted their defeat.

“Modi ji also no longer has confidence in himself and his abilities…The survey of BJP and RSS had recommended changing the tickets considering the defeat of some leaders as certain, but that could not happen. Especially in Uttar Pradesh, there was no courage to do this due to internal strife in the party,” the Congress said, adding surprising results are about to come.
