Recent weeks have seen a series of high-profile shootouts in southern Haryana.

Gurgaon Police apprehended two wanted men from Punjab, allegedly linked to the notorious Davinder Bambiha gang, on Sunday morning after a shootout.

The two accused, Sumit Sharma (21) and Sukhmanjit (19), both residents of Amritsar, were apprehended after sustaining injuries in a shootout that began late Saturday near Umripur village in Sector 62.

At the scene, police seized two pistols, two live rounds, a motorcycle, and 11 spent shells, seven from the suspects and four from officers.

Last week, Bhim Mahabadur Jora, a Nepalese national with a Rs 1 lakh bounty on his head, was killed in a shootout with Gurgaon and Delhi Police.

Jora, the alleged leader of a Nepali gang responsible for thefts across major Indian cities, was wanted in multiple cases, including the murder of Yogesh Chandra Paul in Delhi’s Jangpura area in May 2024, and a Rs 20 lakh theft from the residence of BJP’s Mehrauli District Vice-President Mamta Bharadwaj in Gurgaon’s Sector 49 on October 2, police said.

Jora’s accomplice in the theft was earlier caught by police, and during questioning, he was identified as the alleged mastermind.
