Following information about protests, gherao, and a possible attack by the Youth Congress, security arrangements have been tightened at the Patna residence of former Congress leader and former Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Dr. Shakeel Ahmad.
Ahmad, who had called Rahul Gandhi a coward, claimed in a social media post that Congress workers might target his homes in Patna and Madhubani on Tuesday under the pretext of effigy burning.

“Just now, some Congress colleagues have secretly informed me that the Congress national leadership has ordered the Bihar Congress and Youth Congress to attack my Patna and Madhubani residences tomorrow, dated 27 January, under the guise of effigy burning. This is against the principles of democracy,” he wrote on X.

The Bihar Pradesh Youth Congress held an event at Kargil Chowk, Patna, on Tuesday to register a protest against “the continuous objectionable, irresponsible, and baseless remarks being made against Rahul Gandhi.”
Bihar Pradesh Youth Congress President Garib Das said that such statements not only violate political decorum but are also a well-planned attempt to tarnish the image of the Congress party and its leadership. The Youth Congress strongly condemns any such acts.
Youth Congress workers also carried out symbolic effigy burning and held protests in other districts of Bihar. The Youth Congress leaders stated unequivocally that every worker of the organisation will always remain committed to protecting the respect, ideology, and democratic values of the party leadership.
The BJP has come out in support of Dr. Shakeel Ahmad and launched a sharp attack on Rahul Gandhi. On the threat received by the senior leader, the BJP said, “There is no democracy left in the Congress now, only chaos and hooliganism prevail.”
BJP state spokesperson Prem Ranjan Patel said that speaking the truth has become a crime in the Congress, and even its own senior leader Shakeel Ahmad is not safe, questioning Rahul Gandhi has now become a “sin.”
“The Congress party stands today at a point that clearly reflects its ideological decline and internal intolerance. The moment veteran, experienced, and grassroots leader Shakeel Ahmad made a truthful and fact-based comment on Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, conspiracies of attacks, character assassination, and pressure politics began within the party against him. This incident shows that in the Congress, ideas no longer matter, only a courtly culture remains,” he added.
