Samrat Choudhary is all set to replace Nitish Kumar as new Bihar Chief Minister following the latter’s resignation and his election as the BJP’s State Legislative Party Leader. Chouhan will be the first BJP CM in Bihar.
BJP’s Central Observer for Bihar and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that Choudhary was unanimously elected as the Leader of the BJP Legislative Party in Bihar.

Speaking to reporters in Patna, Chouhan called Samrat’s elecation to the CM post an “emotional moment”, saying the dream of party workers to see a BJP CM since the Jana Sangh days has been realised today.
“These are historic moments. Workers who have helped build the organisation of the BJP since the Jana Sangh days are seeing their dreams being realised today. Their resolve completes today…I congratulate Samrat Choudhary…,” the Union Minister said.
The development comes shortly after Nitish Kumar dissolved the state Cabinet and tendered his resignation, marking the end of an era in Bihar politics.

In his first reaction after being elected as the Legislative Party Leader, Samrat Choudhary expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the central leadership for reposing their faith in him.
In a lengthy note on X, Choudhary said that this is not merely a position for him but a sacred opportunity to serve the people of the state.
“This is not merely a position for me, but a sacred opportunity to serve the people of Bihar, to fulfill their trust and dreams. I pledge to live up to the expectations of one and all with complete dedication, commitment, and integrity,” he said.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and BJP national president Nitin Nabin, Choudhary said he will remain committed for Bihar’s development.
“I will remain continuously committed to taking Bihar to new heights of development, good governance, and prosperity,” he added.
