Veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee, who joined the BJP on January 2, took her on-screen mother’s character to a next, real-life level when she gave a woman anchor a piece of her mind regarding the kind of dress she ought to wear.

“Aap ye samajhiye ke kya pehena chahiye, mandir mein jeans pehen ke nahi ja sakti, takleef hogi, salwar kameez, sari pehen lijiye. Ye hamari virasat hai. Main ye ek Ma ki tarah aapko keh rahi hoon,” (You must understand what kind of clothes you should wear. You cannot wear jeans and visit a temple, it will be uncomfortable. You should wear either a salwar kameez or a saree. This is our tradition and legacy. I’m saying this to you like a mother), she said.

The incident reportedly took place on Monday, January 21, at an event held in Surat, Gujarat which Chatterjee attended and addressed a press conference. The woman anchor had just announced the beginning of the media interaction and introduced Chatterjee when the actress took to the mic and made the statement, said the sources.
