The Rajya Sabha Chairman highlighted the crucial role of the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF), which collects donations to support those who have sacrificed for the country. “On this day, donations are collected for Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF), which are used for the welfare and rehabilitation of war widows, dependents of the Battle Casualties and Ex-Servicemen (ESM) including the disabled,” he stated.

Making a direct appeal to the legislators, he requested “all Hon’ble Members to contribute generously to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund.”

Extending the appeal beyond the house, he added, “Hon’ble Members may also request their friends and relatives to contribute to the Fund.”

The message was clear: the nation has a collective responsibility to care for those who defend its sovereignty and security.

Setting a commendable precedent immediately following the Chairman’s reference, sources confirmed a significant personal contribution from a distinguished member.

Radhakrishnan, a notable public figure and member of the house, reportedly contributed his entire one month’s salary to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. His generous act serves as a powerful call to action, demonstrating the spirit of gratitude and support expected from all citizens towards the armed forces community.

The observance reinforces the nation’s gratitude for the continuous vigil and sacrifice made by the armed forces in safeguarding the country’s integrity.
