A celebration to welcome back four Nihang Sikhs released on bail in the Karnaprayag clash case descended into violence on Sunday after rival Nihang Sikh groups came to blows inside a gurdwara in Mohali.
Police said the situation was brought under control soon after the incident. No formal complaint had been received till Sunday evening, and officials said legal action would depend on whether a complaint is filed.

After videos of the scuffle surfaced, a team from the Sohana police station reached the gurdwara and intervened.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Harsimrat Singh Chehtra said the situation was now peaceful and police were coordinating with the gurdwara management.
“A news report surfaced showing a scuffle between individuals at the Darbar Hall of Gurdwara Singh Shaheedan. In response, a police team immediately arrived at the scene. The situation is currently completely peaceful, and the police team is in contact with the Gurudwara’s management,” he said in a video statement.
He added: “As of now, the police have not received any complaints from anyone; however, if a complaint is received, action will be taken in accordance with the law.”

Harjinder Singh Baidwan, President of Gurudwara Sohana Sahib, said the clash stemmed from long-standing differences between members of the two Nihang Sikh groups.
“There were pre-existing internal differences among the Nihang Sikhs who had gone from here. They had clashed previously as well, but here, the conflict played out openly,” Baidwan told ANI.
The incident occurred as members of the community gathered to welcome back four Nihang Sikhs who had secured bail and returned to Mohali.
The development comes days after a confrontation linked to a group of Nihang Sikhs travelling towards Hemkund Sahib.
According to officials, around 200 Nihang Sikhs travelling from Chandigarh towards Uttarakhand through Himachal Pradesh were stopped at the Kulhal check post on the Uttarakhand-Himachal Pradesh border after authorities erected barricades to prevent their entry.
Officials said a meeting lasting nearly two hours between the district administration, police and representatives of the Nihang Sikhs at Paonta Sahib Gurdwara failed to resolve the issue.
While some members of the group agreed to return, officials said around 20 to 30 Nihang Sikhs crossed the Kulhal bridge and reached the check post. They were stopped by security personnel before an hours-long standoff followed.
Authorities alleged that the group later breached the barricades and proceeded towards the Dehradun-Paonta highway. Some members were seen carrying and waving swords while moving towards Dharmwala, prompting the deployment of additional police personnel and ITBP troops.
Police said reinforcements from different parts of Dehradun district were subsequently deployed after the group entered Uttarakhand. Officials added that the Nihang Sikhs remained firm on their demand to continue their journey towards Hemkund Sahib.
