In a major breakthrough in the Red Fort bomb blast case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday said it has arrested a Kashmiri resident who had conspired with prime accused Dr Umar Un Nabi to carry out the terror attack that claimed 13 innocent lives and left over injured 20 others.
After taking over the case from the Delhi Police, the Central probe agency had launched a massive search operation to look for any associates of the Red Fort bomber and arrested his associate Amir Rashid Ali.

According to the agency, the Hyundai i20 car used in the Red Fort attack was registered in the name of Ali. “The accused, a resident of Samboora, Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir, had conspired with the alleged suicide bomber, Umar Un Nabi, to unleash the terror attack,” the NIA said in a statement.
According to the anti-terror probe agency, Ali had come to Delhi to facilitate the purchase of the car used as “a vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (IED) to trigger the blast.”
NIA said it has forensically established the identity of the deceased driver of the Vehicle Borne IED as Umar Un Nabi, a resident of the Pulwama district and assistant professor in the General Medicine Department in the Al Falah University at Faridabad.
The anti-terror agency said that it has also seized another vehicle belonging to Nabi. “The vehicle is being examined for evidence in the case, in which NIA has so far examined 73 witnesses including those injured in the blast that rocked the national capital on 10th November,” it said.
The NIA further stated that it was working in close coordination with the Delhi Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, UP Police and various other sister agencies as its investigation continues across multiple states.
The agency is pursuing multiple leads to unearth the larger conspiracy behind the Red Fort bombing and identify all others involved in the case.
