Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent address on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms has sparked reactions across the country. Among the first to welcome the announcement was Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, who called the move a “historic step” for India’s economic future.

Speaking about the changes, Baba Ramdev said the Prime Minister has given fresh energy to the country’s economy by reducing the burden of GST on people.

Ramdev highlighted that the government’s decision to cut GST rates on many products, earlier taxed at 12% or 18% to 5% will directly benefit households. Lower taxes, he explained, mean more money in the hands of common people, which will eventually boost consumption and business activity.

“This is an important step towards the Prime Minister’s vision of building a developed India by 2047,” he added.

The yoga guru also praised the Prime Minister for constantly encouraging people to choose Swadeshi (indigenous) products. He said that if people adopt this call seriously, it will create a strong foundation for self-reliance.

“When India moves towards self-reliance and the spirit of Swadeshi awakens in society, our nation will naturally take the lead on the global stage,” Ramdev remarked.

He further stated that the reforms are not just about taxation but also about empowering citizens. By lowering taxes and encouraging savings, the government is aiming to ensure prosperity for all. “The Prime Minister has always worked for the well-being of the people. This GST relief is just yet another example of his commitment,” he said.

Baba Ramdev concluded by saying that these measures show the government’s long-term vision in economic reform. According to him, if people combine the benefits of GST relief with the habit of supporting local products, India’s dream of becoming a developed nation by its 100th year of independence will not be far from reality.
