Dr. Ram Vilas Das Vedanti, who played a role in the Ram temple movement, died in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh on Monday.

77-year-old Ram Vilas Das Vedanti has been instrumental in the temple movement. He was the leading character of the temple movement in the 1990s along with CM Yogi Adityanath’s guru Mahant Avaidyanath and Mahant Paramhans Das.

He has also been an MP twice in 1996 and 1998.
According to VHP sources his body will reach Ayodhya by late this evening.
The last rites of the leader will take place on Tuesday morning at 10:00 am at the Saryu river ghat. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with other BJP and VHP senior leaders, are expected to attend the funeral.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief at the sudden demise of Dr Ram.Vilas Das Vedanti.
In his social media platform, Yogi Adityanath wrote, “The main pillar of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement, former MP and revered saint of Vashistha Ashram located in Shri Ayodhya Dham, Dr. Ram Vilas Vedanti Ji Maharaj, death is an irreparable loss to the spiritual world and Sanatan culture.”
“Humble tribute to him! His passing is the end of an era. His sacrificed life dedicated to the service of religion, society and nation is an inspiration for all of us. It is prayed to Lord Shri Ram that the departed virtuous soul should be given the place at his feet and his disciples and followers should be given strength to bear this immense loss,” CM further said.
