Responding to a query on whether he planned to enter the electoral fray, Chandrasekhar said, “Yes, 100%. I will contest the upcoming Assembly elections. You can write it down — I will contest, and I can disclose the constituency if needed.”

Moments later, he confirmed Nemom as his choice.

The BJP opened its account in the Kerala Assembly in 2016, when party veteran O. Rajagopal won from Nemom with a margin of 8,671 votes. However, in the 2021 polls, former BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan lost the seat to CPM’s V. Sivankutty by 3,949 votes.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Thiruvananthapuram but lost to Congress leader Shashi Tharoor. Chandrasekhar had put up a strong fight, reducing Tharoor’s victory margin from 99,989 in 2019 to 16,077 in 2024.
