Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma discussed a number of key development projects of the state with Union Minister for Urban Development and Energy Manohar Lal Khattar and sought early and adequate funds for expeditious implementation of the works.

The chief minister met the Union Minister in New Delhi on Wednesday and discussed at length the state’s Green Energy Corridor-related projects, the Jaipur Metro Rail phase – II and the Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project(RUID-5) and urged for grant of maximum permissible funds, a CMO spokesman said here.

Sharma told the Union minister that his state has formulated a comprehensive renewable energy generation scheme and now the state government wants that the project works of this scheme be included in the Green Energy Corridor – III and adequate (and maximum possible) subsidy or grant be approved to the state. Rajasthan has received a number of investment proposals, viable implementation of which needed funds as well as a strong and elaborated transmission system.

He also stressed early approval to the detailed project report (DPR) of the Jaipur Metro Rail Phase – II that is to be implemented by a newly-floated state-central government joint venture company. Early release of the equal 50 per cent share of capital for the project would enable us for expeditiously providing an efficient and safe city public transport system to Jaipurians.

“We have also submitted before the Centre Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development (RUID) Phase – (V) plan – to be implemented through funds from the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank, we need pro active cooperation from the Urban Development Ministry for this mega project”, Sharma said.

The chief minister also impressed upon Minister Khattar for early release of Central grants for civic bodies of “non million plus” cities, that have been sanctioned under the 15th Finance Commission.

Issues and demands related to a number of other works and energy projects also figured in deliberations.

Minister Khattar assured the chief minister of “full help and support to the state from the Centre”, the Spokesman said.
