The third day in the fortnight long Rajasthan Divas Mahotsav on Monday was dedicated to the welfare of the tribals and development in areas dominated by them.
Celebrating the day, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma made a series of announcements for the communities at the state level function “Rajasthani Janjati Gaurav Divas” that was organised at the sacred tribal pilgrim, Beneshwar Dham in Dungarpur amid leaders and dignitaries from the tribal dominated districts of Banswara, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, Salumbar and Sirohi.

He lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda as the “Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh” (Year of Tribal Glory).
At the function the Chief Minister also inaugurated or laid foundation stones for 326 development works in tribal areas involving investment of Rs 1902 crore.
A special campaign for allotment of putta (Van Adhikar Putta) to those who live in the forest notified areas would be launched soon, he said.
Besides this the Chief Minister has also announced that the state government was contemplating a mega project for allround development and beautification of the most revered tribal pilgrim dham of Beneshwar. A detailed project report(DPR) was being prepared for the purpose and the work would be launched as soon as DPR is ready and approved.
Praising the popularity of the classic tribal handicrafts, Sharma said, “Their skill in the Pithora Drawing, Earthen Pots (vessels) and Wooden Carvings symbolises the tribal pride and constitutes our valuable legacy”.
We will ensure that their handicraft items get fair price in the market.
As steps for elevation of their life, the state government has decided to raise the Mess Allowance in tribal students hostels from Rs 2500 per month to Rs 3250 per month. Likewise, mess allowance in Sports Academies and incentives for tribal students who secured over 80 per cent marks in 10th and 12th class exams and tribal youths who clear the CA & CS exams have also been hiked.
Rajasthan Revenue Minister Hemant Meena, Cooperatives Minister Gautam Dak, Rajasthan Heritage Conservation and Promotion Authority Chairman Onkar Singh Lakhawat, Sitting MPs CP Joshi and Chunni Lal Garasia, former Minister Srichand Kriplani and several sitting MLAs were present.
