Maharashtra Congress President Harsh Sapkal and Indian Youth Congress President Uday Bhanu were present.

The Congress party said what happened to the Satara doctor raises serious questions about women’s safety in society.

The doctor had committed suicide in Maharashtra’s Satara on Friday last week with a note scribbled on her hand alleging that she was raped by a police official and two others, police said.

Satara Superintendent of Police, Tushar Doshi said Police Sub-Inspector Gopal Badane named in the suicide note has been suspended. He was later arrested in the case along with the other accused.

The victim’s family alleged that the doctor also faced pressure from politicians to conduct fake post-mortems.

“There was a lot of police and political pressure on her to make wrong post-mortem reports. She tried to complain about it. My sister should get justice,” news agency ANI quoted her cousin as saying.
