Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday apologised to media for not taking questions during a press meet due to “paucity of time” and slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not holding any press conference in past four years.

Rahul Gandhi said in a tweet, “Enjoyed meeting the regional & national press today in Bengaluru. We had a packed house! I’m sorry not everyone got a chance to ask a question due to the paucity of time”.

“But, unlike our PM who hasn’t had a press conference in 4 yrs., I will be doing many more of these!,” he added in the tweet.

However, as per media reports, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticised Rahul Gandhi for not taking questions during the press meet.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal, while stating that Gandhi scion’s campaign in Karnataka had been a total failure, said Rahul Gandhi during his press conference could not even take questions in connection with allegations of corruption against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah.

Goyal alleged that Rahul’s press meet was a one-sided affair, as some people were not allowed to ask questions. He further said Rahul Gandhi during the conference did not talk about any important issue.

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi, while addressing a regional and national press conference, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi saw a “threat” in him, and that the latter’s attack on him over his prime ministerial ambition was only aimed at “distracting attention”.

“This election is not about Rahul. I have now learnt to deal with the prime minister. When he can’t respond, he distracts,” Gandhi told reporters in response to a question about Modi’s repeated attacks over his prime ministerial ambition.

Gandhi also hit out at PM Modi for raking up the issue of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s foreign origin, saying she was “more Indian” than many Indians.
