Senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Tuesday continued to raise allegations of a “deal” between the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Bharatiya Janata Party, targeting Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also referred to the Sabarimala gold theft case during election campaigns held in Koyilandy and Perambra in Kozhikode district.

Addressing an election meeting in Koyilandy on Tuesday evening, Rahul Gandhi said there are “two proofs” to suggest alleged collusion between the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the BJP in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.

“There are two proofs to show that the BJP is supporting the Chief Minister and the CPM. When it comes to Kerala, the Prime Minister does not raise the issue of the Sabarimala gold theft. Those who claim to be the protectors of Hindus do not say anything when they come to Kerala,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi further alleged that the Prime Minister wants the Left to win in Kerala, as the BJP can then control the CPM. He claimed that this alleged “collusion” is the reason why central agencies are not pursuing cases against Pinarayi Vijayan as aggressively as they do against other opposition leaders.

Earlier in the evening, Rahul Gandhi held a major roadshow in Koyilandy to bolster support for United Democratic Front candidates ahead of the 2026 Kerala Assembly polls. A large crowd of party workers and local residents gathered for the event, with hundreds lining both sides of the roads to catch a glimpse of the Congress leader.

Earlier in the afternoon, addressing a meeting in Perambra, Rahul Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Modi is “controlling” Pinarayi Vijayan, drawing a comparison by saying it is similar to how Donald Trump controls Modi. He added that Vijayan would comply with any directive from the Prime Minister.

“The UDF is facing the LDF that supports Narendra Modi. The UDF is the only force that can challenge Modi in Kerala. The BJP-led government has filed 36 cases against me because I oppose them and their policies,” he said.

He further alleged that the Prime Minister has opened India’s agriculture and energy sectors to the United States. “If India wants to buy oil from other countries, America must give permission. He is destroying India’s pride. This subservience is due to fear of the Epstein file,” Rahul Gandhi said.
