The Punjab Police has constituted several teams to investigate camps allegedly collecting personal information of individuals under the pretext of Government Schemes.

The inquiries were initiated following complaints that unauthorised persons were gathering citizens’ data at such camps, thereby making it vulnerable to data theft and bank frauds. Reports have also surfaced that forms are being filled out at these unauthorised camps.

A Punjab Police spokesperson appealed to citizens not to share their personal data, including Aadhaar cards, with unauthorized individuals, and instead access Government Schemes directly online or through authorized channels.

The spokesperson further added that Government Suvidha Centres are available to assist citizens in enrolling for Government Schemes or downloading beneficiary cards, which are issued after due authentication of the applicant’s identity from the official database.
