As the decisive ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign launched under the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann entered its 53rd day, Punjab Police on Saturday carried out 581 raids at identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters across the state.
The ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign aimed at making Punjab a gangster-free state was launched by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026.

Since then, police teams from all districts, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab have been conducting intensive operations across the state.
On Day 53, police teams arrested 186 individuals and recovered one weapon from their possession. With this, the total number of arrests since the launch of the campaign has reached 14,526.
In addition, preventive action was taken against 82 persons, while 73 individuals were verified and released after questioning. During the operation, police teams also arrested two proclaimed offenders (POs).
Citizens can anonymously share information about wanted criminals and gangsters, as well as tips related to criminal activities, through the Anti-Gangster Helpline number 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, Punjab Police continued its anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ for the 378th consecutive day. On Saturday, 92 drug smugglers were arrested and police recovered 526 grams of heroin, 515 intoxicant tablets/capsules, and ₹9,540 in drug money from their possession.
With these arrests, the total number of drug smugglers apprehended during the 378-day campaign has risen to 53,562.
As part of its de-addiction and rehabilitation efforts, Punjab Police also motivated 35 individuals to undergo treatment and rehabilitation on Saturday.
