RAF havildar saves woman from raging canal in Pathankot
The rescue operation began after Punjab Police constable Diksha, who was on duty at a nearby checkpoint, noticed the woman being swept away by the current and immediately raised an alarm.
According to the DGP, the operation was carried out by Counter Intelligence Patiala’s Malerkotla unit, which recovered fake Indian currency notes worth ₹5.50 lakh in the denomination of ₹500 from the accused.
Punjab Police has busted a fake Indian currency note (FICN) module and arrested four persons in connection with the racket, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab said on Sunday.
According to the DGP, the operation was carried out by Counter Intelligence Patiala’s Malerkotla unit, which recovered fake Indian currency notes worth ₹5.50 lakh in the denomination of ₹500 from the accused.

The DGP described the action as a breakthrough against the circulation of counterfeit currency in the state. Preliminary investigation has revealed that one of the arrested accused was previously involved in a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Police said an FIR has been registered at Himmatana police station in Malerkotla under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway to trace both the backward and forward linkages of the network and identify other persons associated with the module.
Punjab Police said it remains committed to dismantling organised criminal syndicates and ensuring the economic security of the country through sustained action against illegal networks involved in counterfeit currency operations.
