Protests have erupted in Uttar Pradesh following the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a US-Israeli attack.
The All India Shia Personal Law Board has declared a three-day mourning period.

Maulana Yasoob Abbas, the board’s general secretary, said people will hoist black flags at their homes and wear black clothing. A daily majlis (mourning gathering) will be held in the name of Ayatollah Khomeini.

Thousands of Shia community members took to the streets in Lucknow. Women and men were seen crying.
The main protest was witnessed at Chota Imambara in the old city of Lucknow on Sunday morning.
Protesters chanted slogans like “Long Live Khamenei” and “Down with America and Israel.”
The protesters alleged that, “Those whose ancestors are treacherous and betrayed, they killed Khamenei by deceit. Khamenei was our lion and will remain so until the Day of Judgment. One will die, a thousand Khameneis will come. Curse on America and Israel. Their ancestors are traitors and deceivers”.
Meanwhile, all flights from Lucknow to Saudi Arabia have been cancelled today. Two flights each to Dubai and Riyadh, and one each to Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Dammam, and Sharjah have been cancelled.
