President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday arrived in Odisha, her home state, to address the inaugural session of the winter sitting of the Assembly, marking her first official visit to the House as President of India.
Her address to the Odisha Assembly is being perceived as a symbolic homecoming — a moment of pride for the state and a reminder of her long journey from Rairangpur to Rashtrapati Bhavan.

A two-time lawmaker from Rairangpur assembly constituency in Mayurbhanj district, Murmu will arrive and address the very institution where her political journey began.
Quoting officials, the President will also step into Room No. 11 — the chamber where she worked during her nine-year stint as an MLA and cabinet minister in the erstwhile BJP–BJD coalition government. The Assembly premises wear festive and renovated look to welcome India’s first citizen.
