The two-day special session of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly, scheduled for November 3 and 4 to mark the state’s foundation day, is likely to be addressed by President of India, Droupadi Murmu. However, it has not yet been finalized whether the President will attend in person or deliver her address online, as her date of arrival is still undecided.

Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan confirmed President Murmu’s address to the special session and said preparations are complete, but the arrival dates of the president are yet to be finalized. According to Khanduri, equal opportunity and time will be given to both the treasury and opposition benches to share their views on the state’s 25-year journey. The opposition will also be allotted adequate time to highlight the work done during their tenure.

Khanduri further informed that the state legislature will be decked up to match the Silver Jubilee theme during the special session. She added that the key focus of the proceedings will be discussions on the state’s development over the past 25 years, along with future plans and suggestions from members. Khanduri emphasized that input from both the opposition and government will help lay the foundation for the state’s future development.

It is significant to note that Uttarakhand will celebrate its 25th anniversary on November 9, having been formed in 2000 alongside the states of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. The Dhami government has called for a two-day special assembly session to commemorate the silver jubilee of the Himalayan state.
