Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday held a detailed discussion on the budget proposals for the upcoming financial year 2026–27 at a high-level meeting.
The Chief Minister said, “Over the past nearly nine years, Uttar Pradesh has made concrete progress in the direction of development, security, and prosperity. This has raised expectations among the people of the state, and meeting those expectations is the government’s top priority.”

During the meeting, detailed discussions were also held on the budget proposals, new demands, and proposals placed by the state government in the context of the Union Budget 2026–27, relating to departments under the Chief Minister as well as those headed by Ministers of State (Independent Charge).
Earlier, the Chief Minister also took updated information from the departmental Principal Secretaries regarding financial approvals and expenditure in comparison to the current financial year’s budget.
The Chief Minister added that the Union government’s General Budget is scheduled to be presented on 1 February. He directed that provisions related to Uttar Pradesh should be reviewed and necessary improvements made in the departmental budget proposals accordingly.
During the meeting, it was informed that the proposals for 2026–27 place special emphasis on the continuity of public welfare schemes, the expansion of social security, and the further strengthening of basic facilities.
Provisions related to food security, housing, health, education, and essential services were examined from the perspective of ensuring that their benefits effectively reach every citizen.
The Chief Minister also said, “Strong law and order in the state is the foundation of development and investment.”
He directed that proposals of departments related to police, justice, and administration should further strengthen public safety, ensure speedy justice, and build greater trust among citizens.
In the meeting, it was also informed that the objective of proposals related to roads, buildings, and other infrastructure development is to enhance the state’s connectivity, industrial activities, and employment opportunities, so that the benefits of development reach urban and rural areas equally.
Emphasising financial management, the Chief Minister stated that public welfare and financial discipline are complementary to each other.
He directed that resources should be utilised in such a manner that the quality of schemes improves, timely implementation is ensured, and the public can see real results.
In the meeting, it was discussed that proposals related to revenue strengthening, administrative reforms, and expenditure efficiency have been incorporated in a manner that maintains the state’s financial prosperity and stability, while ensuring continuity in development works.
The Chief Minister also stated, “The new identity that Uttar Pradesh has built in the country by moving forward with confidence over the past nine years should be further strengthened through the upcoming budget.”
He directed officials to finalise the proposals by maintaining a balance between public aspirations, regional requirements, and long-term development.
The Chief Minister said the budget for the upcoming financial year will prove to be a strong step towards fulfilling the dreams and expectations of the people of the state through public welfare, good governanc,e and financial prosperity.
Minister of State for Cooperation (Independent Charge) JPS Rathore and Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh were also present in the meeting.
