Kerala Governor Arif Muhammad Khan on Sunday fired a fresh salvo on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, alleging that it was because of the instructions of the Chief Minister that the police did not file a case in the attempt to attack him physically at the Kannur University during the History Congress three years back.

Speaking to media persons at Aluva Palace, before leaving for Thiruvananthapuram, the Governor said that there was a conspiracy behind the attack against him during the History Congress held in the Kannur University three years back.

Stating that Under Section 124 of the IPC, anyone who tries to intimidate the President of India and Governors of States, it should be considered as a cognizable offense, he asked whether the people in power in Kerala not know that a case should be filed against the persons who tried to attack the Governor, even if there is no complaint.

Alleging that there was a conspiracy behind the attack against him in Kannur, Governor Khan said that it was because of the instructions of the Chief Minister that the police did not file a case in it. He hinted that those in power in Kerala were also a part of it.

“The Vice Chancellor ensured my presence there so that I can be attacked,” he alleged and further said that he would release the video related to the attack against him in Kannur.

The Governor said that he would release the letters sent by the Chief Minister, wherein he (the CM) assured that there would be no interference in the universities. “Now there is interference and they are trying to take control of the universities,” he added.

The Governor also came out against the practice of giving lifelong pensions to ministers’ personal staff, who complete two years’ service.

“The practice of giving pension to ministers’ staff members who complete two years of service is nothing but the looting of the treasury. The concerned persons should enquire whether pensions are being given to ministers’ personal staff in this manner in any other state,” the Governor said

Lashing out against Khan for his diatribes against the government and the CM, CPI-M state secretary M V Govindan said the Governor has stooped to the lowest level and said that he is now saying whatever comes on his tongue.
