Kharge, 83, was admitted to MS Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru on Tuesday after he developed a fever and complained of fatigue and body pain.
His son and Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge later informed that the doctors had advised his father to undergo a pacemaker implant procedure.
A pacemaker implant procedure is performed on a person when the heart’s natural electrical system is faulty, causing irregular heartbeats.
The procedure on Mr. Kharge was successfully completed on Wednesday and his condition is stable, his son Priyank said in a health update.
“It was a short and minor procedure, and he has been stable after the procedure. He is expected to resume his work from October 3 and attend all his scheduled engagements,” the Karnataka minister added.
The Congress leader is scheduled to visit Nagaland on October 7, where he will also address a rally at Naga Solidarity Park in Kohima.
