Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday underscored the spirit of cooperative federalism by extending warm birthday wishes to three sitting chief ministers: Nitish Kumar of Bihar, N Biren Singh of Manipur, and M K Stalin of Tamil Nadu.

Greeting Bihar’s longest-serving Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, the Prime Minister lauded his “tireless” efforts over the years, noting that his vision and development schemes have positively impacted countless lives across the state. Kumar’s tenure has been largely defined by his focus on infrastructure, rural connectivity, and social reforms like women’s empowerment. Similarly, the Prime Minister praised Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh as an “experienced leader” dedicated to prosperity and good governance in the Northeast, a region the Centre has prioritized for accelerated integration and economic growth.
The Prime Minister also conveyed his best wishes to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, wishing him a long and healthy life. Since assuming office in 2021, Stalin has championed the “Dravidian model,” balancing industrial investment with robust social welfare programs in healthcare and education. By publicly honouring leaders from diverse political backgrounds, Modi’s messages highlight a continuing emphasis on collaborative engagement between the Union and the states. These gestures reinforce the long-standing Indian political tradition of maintaining cross-party courtesies during personal milestones, even amidst a landscape of intense national and state-level competition.
