The centrepiece of the event is Bagurumba Dohou 2026. It is being described as a landmark celebration of Bodo heritage. Over 10,000 artistes from the Bodo community are expected to perform the Bagurumba dance together, in a single synchronised presentation.

Participants will come from 81 Assembly constituencies across 23 districts, making it one of the biggest coordinated cultural performances ever attempted in Assam.

Bagurumba is one of the most recognisable folk dances of the Bodo people. Young women are traditionally the ones who perform it, with men providing music accompaniment. The movements reflect birds, butterflies, leaves and flowers. The dance symbolises fertility, joy, peace, and harmony with the natural world, and is closely linked to festivals such as Bwisagu, the Bodo New Year, and Domasi.

Kaziranga elevated corridor project and new trains on Sunday

At around 11 am on Sunday morning, the Prime Minister will travel to Kaliabor to lay the foundation stone for the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor Project, an infrastructure initiative valued at over Rs 6,950 crore.

The project involves the four-laning of the Kaliabor–Numaligarh section of NH-715, stretching 86 km. Designed as an environmentally sensitive national highway, it includes a 35-km elevated wildlife corridor passing through Kaziranga National Park, along with 21 km of bypasses and 30 km of highway widening.

Officials say the corridor aims to improve road connectivity across Nagaon, Karbi Anglong, and Golaghat districts, while also allowing the free movement of wildlife and minimising human-animal conflict.

During the same programme, the Prime Minister will also flag off two Amrit Bharat Express trains — Guwahati (Kamakhya)–Rohtak and Dibrugarh–Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) — further strengthening rail links between the Northeast and northern India.
